Creating a slideshow or screensaver with Irfanview
Step 1
Here I have a selection of images that I would like to create a slideshow of. I have moved them in to their own directory but this is not a necessary requirement as you can easily select which photos you would like to display from the Irfanview slideshow box.
Step 2
To start creating your slideshow you can either go to 'File' on the menu bar and then select Slideshow or simply press w on your keyboard.
Step 3
Use the 'Look in' drop down menu to browse to the directory your photos are located in.
Individual photos can be selected by highlighting them and then clicking on the 'Add' button.
Multiple photos can be selected by clicking and then holding down shift and click to select the next image then clicking on 'Add'.
All the images in your folder can be added by clicking on the 'Add all' button.
As well as having graphics in your slideshow you can also include an mp3 file in the slideshow files list to play along with it.
The slideshow can be saved as a .scr for use as a screensaver, the file you have made should be moved to C:\WINDOWS\system32 then you can apply the screensaver to your pc by right clicking on the desktop choosing properties then going to the screensaver tab and locating your new file from the list.
You also have the option to save the file as a .exe which creates a standalone player for your slideshow. This means that it can be viewed on any PC even if Irfanview isn't installed.
